Although Snowball translation memory is designed to use the smallest possible amount of system resources so you can translate quickly and effectively, it works by making changes directly in your Word document. As a result, you may sometimes experience what appears to be a slow response from Snowball and wonder what happened.
Every time you confirm a translation in Snowball, that information is sent to Microsoft Word, and the selected source is replaced with your target. Depending on your Word settings, Word will then realign your text to fit the page or screen, run a spelling or grammar check, and possibly repaginate your entire document. If you have a long or complex document, these actions may take a considerable amount of time, and Snowball has to wait for Word to finish before it can update its own display.
Here are some of the things you can try if you find your translation is not going quickly enough:
Deactivate automatic spelling and grammar checking
Display your document in Draft mode (press Ctrl-Alt-N in Word; Ctrl-Alt-P returns you to Print layout).
Also, you should definitely deactivate tracking of changes in Word, as this could confuse Snowball by inserting extra information in the sentence as you are translating.
