Why is the Edit button greyed out in the concordance view?

In the concordance “View” tab in the main Snowball translation memory window, you may have noticed an “Edit” button in the lower right-hand corner next to the “Delete” button. In a future version of Snowball, clicking this button will allow you to edit your translation memory segments directly from the main window instead of in the translation window. Unfortunately, we haven’t implemented editing of segments from this view yet, so right now this button will be grayed out no matter whether you have any segments selected or not.

Currently, the only way to edit translation memory segments in Snowball is from the Snowball translation window. You can open a segment for editing by selecting the desired target and pressing F2 or by single clicking the selected target, or you can overtype the selected segment by simply starting to type without first opening it for editing. If you want to edit a particular segment, you can also always type the source for the segment of interest anywhere in any open Word document and then start to “translate” it by pressing Ctrl+Space (or your user-defined hotkey in Snowball Pro) with the insertion point at the start of the source. The Snowball translation window will appear with the target or targets corresponding to the specific source, and you can then edit or delete them as you wish. We realize this is not a satisfactory long-term solution!

You can also delete segments in the concordance view in the main Snowball window by selecting one or more segments and clicking the “Delete” button. But please remember that any deletions you make will be final and irrevocable!
